Senior Product Manager SRE & OPS (f/m/d) - Potsdam, Berlin or 100% remote within Germany

Permanent employee, Full or part-time · Berlin/Potsdam

Hi there!
At Data4Life, we believe that making health data ready for research requires a high degree of control in terms of security in all levels where data is processed. For this reason, from the outset we’ve decided to build our own data centers in Germany, in order to define and control aspects such as physical access to our server rooms, fine-grained service access control, and optimal site reliability engineering operations. Having our own private cloud infrastructure allows us to design a secure, lean, extendable, and cost-efficient solution on which the workloads for highly-sensible health data can run, while still leveraging industry best-practices.

For this endeavour, we’re looking for a Senior Product Manager (m/f/d) with a passion for digitalisation to lead our private cloud infrastructure. In this role, you will contribute to developing and continuously shaping the on-premises infrastructure we at Data4Life have in Germany for critical services of our products and projects. You will be part of the IT operations team as well as the SRE team, and lead opportunities to scale and improve our private cloud infrastructure offerings, both for internal and external services within Data4Life, as well as for opening the infrastructure to external partners.

Imagine working to contribute running the cloud infrastructure that enables the digitalization of health research to advance public health and personalized medicine - supporting leading public health institutions, esteemed medical experts and renowned research facilities throughout the world to run their workloads efficiently and reliably. If this is of interest to you, apply today!
Your future role
  • Manage the work of the SRE and IT Operations teams in an agile manner, preparing the user stories that capture all the necessary information, and adequately prioritizing the backlog in a logical structure that enables the delivery of value to the stakeholders in short timeframes.
  • Establish ‘rhythm of business’ mechanisms by engaging with and informing internal stakeholders (teams, leadership, partners and customers), e.g. in OKR planning and reviews, risk management assessments, our impact framework, or in dedicated planning sessions.
  • Help shape the infrastructure roadmap together with the key stakeholders (especially platform teams and senior management), developing and nurturing high-trust relationships.
  • Work towards refining and improving service-level objectives and agreements for infrastructure services, in collaboration with other development teams.
  • Partner closely with the compliance team to strengthen the infrastructure security and renewing quality certifications that ‘raise the bar’ in digital health.
  • Drive ambitious infrastructure operations and large refactorings in a sustainable and cost-effective manner to improve engineering excellence.
  • Produce high quality product-related documentation including requirements, specifications, designs, key features, blog posts, or business cases, through collaboration with legal, technical writers, and other experts.
  • Contribute to planning, estimating, requesting and invoicing direct and indirect infrastructure costs for the corresponding funded projects, thereby managing a portfolio of relationships with external suppliers and infrastructure partners.
  • Gather usage insights, participate in the coordination of incident management processes, steer infrastructure service requests, review on-call-duty schedules, and drive continuous process improvements recommendations.
