Some of the things you’ll be taking care of:

  • Learn and support Data4Life’s core services, analyze and explore ways to efficiently maintain those
  • Propose improvements to the existing infrastructure, tools and processes
  • Work together with the engineering department to contribute infrastructure and knowledge to the projects
  • Advocate stability and security, raise awareness for weak spots
  • Drive continuous improvements and automation in various areas, such as infrastructure deployment and provisioning, hardening, monitoring, alerting and logging
  • Be part of a helpful and knowledgeable Site Reliability Engineering team
What you need to succeed
  • Significant experience as Site Reliability Engineer, ideally operating a complex micro service architecture, based on Kubernetes and Docker
  • Practical experience with on premises Openstack and/or, at least, one cloud provider like AWS
  • Deep knowledge and experience with the Linux operating system (preferred Ubuntu)
  • Practical working experience with the following HashiCorp tools: Terraform, Packer, Vault and Consul. They are the core of our daily work
  • Hands-on experience with EFK(Elasticsearch Fluentd Kibana) and Prometheus/Grafana stacks
  • Being comfortable working remotely with colleagues, teams and external partners
  • Be able to organize your own working day, even in stressful times
  • Being comfortable to do on-call duty shifts
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Data4Life is a nonprofit organization with the vision of making the world a healthier place. With a team of around 100 people from 30 different countries, we work together on the mission to digitize health research. By linking technology and research, we make health data available to research in a comprehensive, digital and secure way. Our interdisciplinary team in Potsdam, Berlin and Singapore brings together experts from fields such as product development, digital engineering, data security and science. Data4Life was founded in 2017 and is funded by the Hasso Plattner Foundation.
